What It Is

Like a tequila shot.
The pagentry, the salt, the lime,
how to hold it all in our
hands, at once.
Best with friends,
the clinking laughter,
it all goes down
together and we all
get drunk and happy.

Without you, this is all still true,

but the warmth in the belly,
the smooth fire, quiet burn,
my favorite part, that heat –
it’s just missing.

[PROMPT: no prompt on this one. My internet has been out at home (thus the late posting, though I promise I’ve been writing), so I was prompt-less yesterday.]
